World’s Largest Single-piece Floor Mosaic

You will be fascinated by the flow of this unique wave which extends over 1,050 sqm telling the story of destructive earthquakes and rivers changing their directions. This floor mosaic on a place once used as a meeting ground is the largest mosaic found in the world today with its history going back to the 4th century and its unique geometric patterns.

Eros Sculpture

This 70-centimeter Eros Sculpture made from marble going back to 200s AD which was very well conserved is one of the latest finds in the excavation area.

Pegasus Mosaic

Are you ready to fly on the wings of a miracle? Pegasus Mosaic, including both Pegasus, the horse with wings, and Muses depictions, is made of a natural rock (Tessera) with 162 color tones and is stunning with its photographic details. The artifact located at eight and a half meters depth dating back to the 2nd century AD depicts the encounter of Head Muse who inspired the poetry of Hesiodos with Calliope. Pegasus is also a mosaic signed by its artist Euporos.

Roman Baths

Brought to light during excavation works conducted for The Museum Hotel Antakya dating back to the 5th century AD, this Roman Bath shines a light on one of the most important social venues for Romans where they used to meet for eating, doing sports and enjoying relaxing massages. At the hot springs section, the warm water used to create vapor in between Caldarium columns; the guests of the bath used to come together in warm and cold-water chambers (Tepidarium and Frigidarium) to have fun alongside the river.

Holy Spirit and Wildlife Mosaic

This mosaic, which is beautiful beyond comparison, is thought to belong to the floor of a Roman villa back in the 5th century AD. In addition to its pattern which reflects the typical characteristics of its time, the artifact also includes many depictions of birds living in Antakya at that period and creates an excellent synergy with Asfuroğlu Family as the owner of the investment. Since Asfur means “bird” in Arabic language. This very well-conserved sample is a unique example with its almost photographic realism.
